Looking to explore the area, especially Daintree. Anyone else looking to explore on dates in that range?

31 year old Brit, finishing my year here in Melbourne and going for one last trip. Be great to meet some people!

We will be in Brisbane for a week in the middle of July'17. Will mostly be at the University of Queensland but should have the weekend to ourselves. Never been to Australia before. We - my wify and me - are fairly outgoing type and wouldn't mind being outdoors - on the move - all day. We prefer walking around and appreciating the architecture. At the same time - we enjoy nature tours, greenery or the blue waters. Need suggestions or possible itineraries.
Our only problem being that we only have…

Hi. I've just got to Australia, with the plan of exploring the country by car. I'm now in a bit of a panic as it's not proving as easy as I thought.

Context: I've got 7.5 more weeks here: 3.5 between Cairns and Brisbane, and 4 weeks between Brisbane and Darwin - ideally via Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Alice Springs. (There's a break in the middle for flights to Fiji.) The question is whether a car is worth it for this trip.

I'll give my perspective, but any other wisdom would be brilliant…

Road trip

My wife is going to retire this September, so we are planning a road trip around Australia, we don't have a start or finish point or date, but are looking at next year (about October/November 2018)

(I have already retired (best job in the world)

I'm not sure if its worth renting a camper or a car, so suggestions would be welcome

I am just going to take a wedge of Aussie $ and come back when its all gone

So suggestions where to go, where to start from, what to see, where to finish

I have…

So I'm travelling from Sydney to Cairns in November/December. Our room is booked in Sydney so we have 4 weeks after leaving Sydney to make our way to Cairns.

Our main trips are booked through an Oz Experience package (whitsundays, Fraser island, GBR and more I cant think of right now) - minus a few day trips, Skydiving, Cape tribulation Blue Mountains.
Our buses are paid for through the Oz experience/Greyhound.
7 nights of our accommodation is included in the Oz Experience package. So that's…

In Canberra for 10 days. Looking to meet business-minded people with an interest in investing in Africa as well as seeing the sights around the city. Suggestions on touristy activities to try out are also welcome. :-)

Hi,

I will travel to Perth in November and would like to do a tour to the North. I will have 26 days and plan to join a group tour for the Perth to Exmouth part and then continue solo further North.
The group tour will take 10 days so there will be 16 remaining. I need to decide how much travel I can fit into these 16 days so that i buy the appropriate plane ticket back to Perth.

Could anyone advise if these 16 days are sufficient to reach Darwin with slow pace and overnight stays at the main…

My family and I (kids 7 and 8) will be arriving in Perth mid December. We'll have about 8-10 days, including Christmas, before heading to Melbourne on 27th December. Any suggestions on what to do while we are there? We will have just travelled through SE Asia, so will be looking for quite a relaxing time. We'll hire a car so we can get about.
Thanks in advance for your help ;)

Greyhound Bus

Hi,

Just looking at Greyhound bus website. I wish in July to travel from Adelaide to Alice Springs stopping at places like Coober Pedy on the way. The Greyhound bus seems quite expensive at AUS $179. Obviously I could book just now - but for fexibility is it possible to just turn up and book the same day? Are the buses often full - just wondering if at a remote place how to get on a bus if it is full?

I am on my own the other alternative is hiring a car - is that a realistic option in terms of…
