Hello all!

My boyfriend and I are planning on going to Australia via Japan from the US next June. His sister is studying abroad in Brisbane so we'd like to visit her while we are on that side of the Pacific. I'd like to know from experienced sources (you guys) some recommendations for the logistics of this visit. From what I've heard, Brisbane doesn't have a whole lot going on (correct me if I'm wrong). Some options I was considering were doing some day/overnight trips outside of Brisbane or…

Hi All

We are 3 x thirty somethings (no kids) planning on doing a 3 day / 2 night tour of the GOR, starting and ending in Melbourne between the 22nd-24th December.

The original plan was to spend the first night in Apollo Bay, Second night in Port Campbell, third day head to Warrnambool then back to Melbourne via the inland route. I've read that many of the highlights are in the Port Campbell region and hence I allowed more time here.

Now the more I read about it, a lot of the proposed 3 day…

Hi

Planning a trip to Australia Dec-Jan, and we want to go diving. However, we find conflicting info on the stingers, and on how safe it is.

Questions:
Can you snorkel without a full body swim suit, and how safe is diving on the Great Barrier Reef?

Really difficult to find valid info regarding this subject, so hope someone in here have some experience to draw from.

Thanks
Regin

Hello everyone,

I've been looking back through posts on here because I didn't want to be redundant, but didn't quite find what I was looking for, so here goes. And if there is a way to search through older posts (I made it to page 8), please let me know - this is my first time on this forum.

This coming summer (June/July 2016) I would like to take a 3 week-ish trip to Australia from Japan. I've been trying to do some research, but everything's a bit overwhelming. Since it's winter in…

A new bus interchange at Melbourne Airport

A new undercover bus interchange will open from 30 November 2015, and will be located at domestic Terminal Four (T4). The existing bus interchange located at Terminal 1 (T1) will no longer be in operation.

The new T4 bus interchange provides direct access to Tiger Airways, Jetstar and Regional Express services, with all other airlines departing from T1, T2 and T3.

The T4 bus interchange is located approximately 10 minutes’ walk from T1, so customers…

Hi all, being a pretty epic traveller in the past, and now restricted to much shorter trips nearby home, thought I'd put in these brief tips to the 5-day trip on Tasmania I've just done...sure its been done many times in the past, but fresh info is always good!

Practicalities:
Basically, the only way to see the best of Tassie on a budget is to fly in, get wheels and camp out, theres no other way really, ditto for most of mainland Australia.
Jetstar flights return Melb - Launceston about $170…

I and my girlfriend were traveling in Australia 12 years ago and when on our return trip from Cairns to Sydney we decided to abandon our jolly OZ bus company and to visit some more natural areas then just beach or tourist traps. We were extremely lucky to find a special place: it was probably day or two from Sydney, somewhere in inland where was a small plateau, high over the desert. Rangers brought us there as we hitchhiked and we were astonished at the beauty of the place - everywhere around…

As the title suggests, we have 36 hours in Perth - eve of 29 Nov, whole day 30, fly to Alice lunchtime 01 Dec. Any suggestions about how to best fill it? We're not really into shopping - more into seeing sights, wildlife, the environment, local history etc... I have been to Perth many years ago, but it's the first time for my partner. I was thinking Kings Park for the first evening (we'll be there about 17:00, so not a huge amount of time the first day), and then getting the train to…

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for hostels in the Sydney area? Not looking for anything expensive at all something cheap and decent!
Also wondering what is King's Cross are of Sydney like? I've noticed a lot of hostels in that area, is it a backpacker or party kind of area?
