My boyfriend and I are planning on going to Australia via Japan from the US next June. His sister is studying abroad in Brisbane so we'd like to visit her while we are on that side of the Pacific. We are 3 x thirty somethings (no kids) planning on doing a 3 day / 2 night tour of the GOR, starting and ending in Melbourne between the 22nd-24th December.
The original plan was to spend the first night in Apollo Bay, Second night in Port Campbell, third day head to Warrnambool then back to Melbourne via the inland route. I've read that many of the highlights are in the Port Campbell region and hence I allowed more time here.

Questions:
Can you snorkel without a full body swim suit, and how safe is diving on the Great Barrier Reef?
