Just per the title ... anyone know of anything reasonable for a long term stay in Sydney near Central ? Long term as in a few months.
Regards
Jeremy
Me, my wife and our 16 month old(at the time of travel) are heading to QLD for 3 weeks in August.
We're looking at doing Fraser Island for about 5 days, then the Atherton Tablelands, Daintree and maybe Lizard Island for a day or 2 to make up the rest of the holiday.
I'd really love to fly to Mount Isa then drive to Lawn Hill for a day or two.
Is this feasible?
How long does it take to get to Lawn hill from Mount Isa?
And what else is in the area worth seeing?
Is Gregory Downs worth a look?
Any advice…
hi there
I'm looking for a tour from Perth to Broome in 10 days. There are lots around, but I'd like some advice on what the best ones might be. I'm travelling with my brother and we're both in our 30's. While we are adventurous and are up for lots of fun, I would prefer to travel with people around our age, preferably mid-20's to 30's.
Other things we'd like are a smaller group (i.e. minibus or 4WD), good value (but quality is more important than cost), perhaps something a little different to…
I read in last weeks SMH Travel section that the NSW Hinterland is very beautiful but most people miss it in their rush bewteen Sydney and Byron Bay.
Waterfall Way, Route 78 and the towns of Dorrigo and Bellingen are mentioned as being lovely and worth a visit.
So what is the best way to do this?
From the map it looks like I leave the Pacific Highway at Raleigh and take Route 78 through Bellingen and Dorrigo.
But then what? Do I double back on myself and re-join the Pacific Highway where I left…
Thanks for all the help so far.
I have looked at a couple of distance websites and the general time given for driving from Sydney to Byron Bay appears to be between 8 to 10 hours.
Some people have told me it can be done in 6 hours. Maybe that is possible for someone with a powerful cruising car, such as a Statesman. For my little automatic Hyundai Excel, I think it will be closer to 10 hours.
Can anyone tell me the halfway point in kilometres between Sydney and Byron Bay?
From looking on the map…
Question for the regular US travellers guys:
If we go through US customs in Hawaii this year and go through the whole photo, fingerprint thing, do we redo this process on our next trip into the US the following year or will the process be simplified and quicker? It sounds like a completely scary process for your family holiday. Do they fingerprint the kids also or just adults? Tonya

Well, the new missus and I are back from our road trip.
We had a great time in a great country. We stayed in small motels and with friends and since we were tourists, I had to bbq some 'roo. It tasted pretty much like any other wild game. I really enjoyed meeting the locals. They generally seem to be a lot mellower than the average Amerikan.
We started off in Mooloolaba, and hit the Aussie zoo (nice croc demo), glasshouse mtns, lamington NP, Byron bay, the hunter valley, and a bunch of other…
Hi I had a look at the sticky threads at the start of this branch but didn't find anything which applied to me.
I am lucky enough to have an Australian passport through descent, as my mother was born there. I even have some family out there. But I haven't been out there yet,(I live in England).
My question is basically, will having an Australian passport benefit me much in terms of work? I am not talking about the amount of time I will be able to stay in the country, but the sort of job I would be…
You helped before with a quick trip to Tasmania, and I'm hoping for some good advice with a short stay in Darwin. Travelling in August.
We grabbed the $3 fare for second person to Darwin. We've only been there for a couple of hours stop over. Airport staff and customs were very friendly. I went outside for a smoke and it was beautifully balmy.
Any must see suggestions would be appreciated.
