I have never been to Australia and I'm not going soon. I'm just curious about something I heard recently and thought someone might be of help.

I was told that the funnelweb's bite it so strong that it can pierce through heavy leather boots. I find this incredibly hard to believe.

Please, regale me with your stories of bionic ten-foot arachnids.

Gracias. Danke. Thanks.

Hi

My mate and I are going to be working in Sydney for 3 months from beginning of July to beginning of October and need to sort out furnished accomodation. Our posting on Gumtree did not yield much and some of the ones listed on TNT don't sound great. We get an allowance so want something reasonably nice before hostelling for 6 months after our work posting. Can anyone suggest any good sources for details of flat to rent?

Thank

If you’d never been to Aus before and had 5 months to explore the place, starting in February and ending in early July, where would you go and how?

During that time you must do 3 months total of harvest work, preferably in the beginning of the trip. Things of interest are epic landscapes, bizarre wildlife, friendly people, crazy nightlife and other unique experiences.

I’ve got somewhat of a plan but I want to hear yours first.

Just wondering where in Sydney is the best place to exchange currency into pounds and euros?

Are the banks the cheapest option?
Should I just wait till I get to my destination to exchange?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have heard mention of Port douglas instead... Is this a lie around sunbaking, romantic kind of a holiday destination? Access to GBR? Nice scenery and bushwalking and…

I will be moving to Melbourne (as a student) soon and am planning on buying a second-hand car. Can anyone recommend a used car website or other source of finding cheap cars for sale. Are there any scams, laws, regulations/taxes, or "environmental inspections" I should be aware of when buying a used car?

I will also need a cell phone straight away. Any suggestions for a cell phone company I should sign up with or an affordable package (phone + minutes) would be greatly appreciated. I'll be in…

Is anyone aware of a ferry that runs between Australia and NZ? We are looking into buying a campervan in Australia, and after 6-9 months in Australia, taking a ferry with the campervan over to New Zealand.
