Hello,
I'll be flying into Brisbane in September from LAX. I'm looking for best rates, and I'm worried that cheaper fares are offered on airlines that have major drawbacks. I've never flown there so I'm not familiar. (For example, in US, some very cheap flights are offered on airlines that are extremely uncomfortable with seats that don't recline, or charge extra fees for every little thing).

Are there airlines to avoid when flying to Brisbane? Most popular choices seem to be Fiji Airways…

When I arrived back in Oz last night on an el-cheapo flight from SE Asia, I said to the customs guy- busy night ahead.

He said that they would be seizing enough home-cooked meals and home-grown vegetables in the next hour or so to open up a restaurant.

You think people would realise by know............

Specifically, how long to stay in Cairns, when to get back to Sydney, and whether to fit anything else in the middle (Melbourne, Brisbane, wine country?). Current itinerary is as follows, and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Cheers everyone!

Day 2 - Sydney
Day 3 - Sydney
Day 4 - Transfer to Uluru
Day 5 - Uluru & Region

I'm so confused about this that I don't even know where to start. Basically, I just turned 26 and got kicked off my parents' health insurance (yay America), so I signed up for Cigna health insurance through the Healthcare.gov Marketplace in order to avoid getting fined. However, I'm leaving for Australia this November on a Work and Holiday Visa, and I have a couple questions for anyone who has been through this process before, namely:

  1. As a U.S. citizen, am I required to have U.S. health…

Dear Travellers,

I am heading out to Aus in Oct on the WHV (417) with the intent to extend for a year following the 88 days of fruit picking/harvesting jobs ect. I'm a bit on the fence about how to start off in Aus because accommodation is so expensive.
Has anyone tried house sitting instead of paying for a hostel? Most of the adverts appear to be a fair way out of the cities. Alternatively do I just suck up the cost and book a hostel for a couple weeks until my TFN arrives? Could I couchsurf…

My son will be moving to Scotland next month for a minimum 3 year work position. Just wondering if anyone can suggest affordable ways for him to relocate his personal effects, guitar, etc - basically all that won't easily fit into a suitcase. There seem to be plenty of options via sea freight, unaccompanied baggage etc, but having had no experience with any of these I would really appreciate any feedback form those who may have recently moved overseas

Can I arrive in Australia on, let's say 21st of April and stay for three months?

Also, do I need any proof of funds/onward tickets? I will be able to…

I'm flying into Sydney and traveling south to Melbourne, flying out of Melbourne 2 weeks later. I wanted to rent a car so I could travel at my own pace but the one-way drop fees are more expensive than the entire car rental. Does anyone know a rental agency that might waive this fee or discount a bit? I'm traveling on my own so any little bit helps!!

Thanks
