I reckon on about 50% of my crossings, I've seen various nationalities on bikes pedaling across. I've seen French, Japanese and Austrians, they usually have their national flag somewhere on the bike. Getting blasted by the slipstream of a road train as it roars by must be something else.

I've heard of people cycling and wonder if I should make it a mission! I have toured around India and Vietnam on a pushie...how hard can it be ?! I could visualise bikes and their many colours when I read that, what a wonderful thing to see. I was talking to someone to day about what I intend doing and they thought I would like it as 'it's a nice drive' only in Australia, the English plan a 250 mile journey as though it were a marathon, without much food either!
Why don't you do it in a wing suit!!! Get dropped out of plane just over Perth and wing it (excuse the pun)across the almighty country. You said you were bored....this will definitely add some 'zing' to life. You will be able to view the cyclists from up there (you would no doubt have to watch out for incoming - Geese, Eagles, wing suited people going East to West; you would also get a good view of road trains wiping cyclists out!!). Mind you the thought of the bike, panniers and the tired aching body getting sucked along by a road train at the speed of sound is...well...quite appealing:-)
Pugh...get in the car and go....the suspense is killing me!! You are doing the right thing....life is too bloody short:-)...Carpe Diem matey...carpe diem!!

down to last minute jobs I shall be out of here by friday! A wing suit ? not so much, much too chicken for that! the suspense is killing you is it!? see you anon

So I made it, trouble free, and what an experience it was, I loved it! Thanks for all your tips. great experience!!
