#9 Most of em, though your chances of getting a taxi are effectively nil.

There will be some 24 hours places around Sydney, but you do not want to go wandering around the city at midnight, 90% of the time on the main streets, its sort of ok, but its that 10% of the time that things could happen.
Sydney is of course not as bad as the US/or/UK, but things do happen, smaller scale crimes, but it does happen.
#12 I'd dispute that. It's kinda hard for anything to happen at midnight on NYE in Sydney, so huge are the crowds and police attendence.

yea I'm not worried about that.
I'm smart enough not to leave anywheres on my own, especially walking at say 3 am in some city I am not familar with. Unless I'm with a bunch of people. But I am pumped to be else wheres for new years coming up.
I once brught in the new years into New York 2002 - THAT was insane with all the NYP every where on the streets because it was after 9/11. I feel secured.
Thanks guys and Bazza (aka otopuss)

I've never seen the Sydney fireworks because I could never bring myself to wait under the sun for around 12 hours waiting for midnight. The good public spots for viewing the firewokrs start getting taken from the morning of new year's eve.
I was at Bondi a few years back for new years but the cops banned all alcohol and even stoped some guys from playing some drums on the beach.

REALLY.....that big of a show huh? Well i wonder if theres any hills nearby or something that will give you a good view. I will see when I get there I suppose.
That sucks about the cops....so rules are strict there then?
They banned alcohol on Bondi beach for xmas day the year after I left; too many fights apparently the year before. I was there then, and I didn't see any. Just lots of pissed english people, but having fun, not being leary.
