What's the RUDEST places any of you have been to, in Australia?

I've been to about 30 Australian cities and was born here.

2x places stand out for me:

1) WaggaWagga, NSW
and
2) Ballina, NSW

In both places, the general public was undeniably rude, kept their eyes down when walking, didn't nod or say hello when you passed them in the street, didn't smile, looked like they didn't want to be there, Cafè staff rolled their eyes when serving you, at the shops, none of the staff nodded or acknowledged you when you entered their store, even though there was no other shopper inside...I could go on.

I found even Sydney, a busy city, did not even match the rudeness of those two towns.

In WaggaWagga in particular, all the women were size 8-12 - to my utter surprise for a country town where BBW women are usually plentiful.

I suppose because in WaggaWagga, they are trying to breed the perfect Aryan Australian, who is excellent at all Sports activities:

But why is Ballina so rude? Are they sick of people bypassing the town to get to Byron Bay?

Any other towns that have just generally rude people?

We're off to Wagga Wagga tomorrow (Saturday), so we'll check out the punters on the rudeness scale, and report back.

Rude. Now that's something they'd never say about the denizens of Cockle Creek.

Great, looking forward to hearing your opinions, to confirm my suspicion it's not just me.

Lake Macquarie, NSW?

I live near there and they are a friendly mob, though not much there! :-):

alex, it clearly troubled you so much that you had to join the forum to tell us about it.
i'm interested in some of the data the supports your findings: how long were you in those shithole towns, and exactly how many people gave you the shits?
