Perth airport now has two sets of two terminals 10 km apart by road.

To get from Qantas international to Qantas domestic is a10 km trip.
Make the mistake of going to Virgin when you need to go to Jetstar, and its10km.

People will miss planes thanks to this!

Perth is a terribly hick small town on the edge of an unproductive desert ... you can expect nothing else, really

I thought they had been like that for as long as I can remember, not too much different to Sydney really with Kingsford Smith and Mascot, not to mention what the situation is at a number of airports outside of Australia.

Taxi drivers can match airlines to terminals in an instant.

Sydney, Brisbane, and other places can have a fair distance between international and domestic terminals, but Perth is essentially two different airports in quite different suburbs that share some runways. Taxis might be okay with it, but others driving there can make big mistakes indeed.

Brisbane has domestic and international terminals not so far apart, they both being on the same side of the airport and it even walkable if need be whereas Sydney and Perth have terminals on opposite sides of the airport so a much longer trip by road between terminals, separate terminals and not different airports as such, Sydney having a different runway structure with extension out into Botany Bay but that does not really affect people on the ground, especially with the train connection.

When I booked my flight, they give me an itinerary. On that itinerary it showed what terminal my flight departed from. "Hmm" I said to myself; "T3". I took that as a hint that there were at least 3 terminals to choose where to drive to. So I took the logical step (that any reasonable person would do) and did about 20 seconds research on that new fan-dangled thing they call 'the web'. Showed me 4 terminals (including both the domestic and international at T1), and just like that, I knew where to drive to. Wasn't that difficult! Amazing what a bit of common sense can do... Hmm, me thinks I may even have to do the same when I go to any airport at any city anywhere on the globe - best write that one down so I don't forget!

Nah Perth does throw you a bit now that some domestic flights go from nearby the international terminal..
'OP forgot to mention the mining site flights that go from yet another terminal, out the back of the freight area (halfway to Midland) about a ten dollar taxi ride in the opposite direction yet again..

I swear there's 10km between some gates at LAX and it's technically the same airport. As suggested above, a little research before travelling goes a very long way in helping to avoid missed planes and setting realistic expectations.
