Hi,

I'm going to attend the Penguin Parade over at Phillip island in the middle of August and wondered whether to do general viewing or penguin plus? Have any of you been and could advise what your view was like and which would be best to buy? Also should I pre book tickets?

Thanks !

I think Penguin Plus is worth the extra.

Having said that you can get half-price tickets from Half-Tix the day prior and cash only. They're in the Town Hall Building in Swanston Street near Collins Street, right in the centre of town. Half-Tix carry discount tickets for a wide range of tours and shows.

I don't think you need to pre-book for August (I would check the weather close to tour date, before committing) ... and take REALLY warm clothes with you, including waterproof jacket, hat, scarf, and gloves.

We can provide a lot of additional texture when you decide your overall shape.

ditto, the being well rugged up, it can be extremely cold on the water edge in the middle of winter.

Half-tix sell discounted tours to the Penguins, but I don't believe they actually sell discounted entry tickets to the Penguins themselves, so if you were making your own way there, you'd need to get your entry tickets at the Gate or online.

Back in "the day", Penguins plus was $10 more than general admission, and it was a great bargain. Now it's $22 more, representing almost another 100% of the general admission ticket price. I don't think that it's worth THAT much more, not in Winter at least. In Summer, when crowds are high and the place books out, it does mean you'll be seeing the penguins with a few hundred as oppposed to a few thousand others. But in Winter, that's far less of a problem.
