Oz backpacker banned by Scottish landlord who brands Aussies ‘drunk and racist’!

The irony is that it's absolutely pointless being racist in Australia ... the place is a land of endless immigration so where are you going to find a base of "white" people who will create a racist head of steam? And to what end?

There are a lot of things wrong and regrettable about Australia, but our multiculturalism since WWII would really count as one of our more successful stories, I'd suggest.

A lot of Poms think Oz is still 1950.

In the PC world we live in, incredibly it's often easier to make up an excuse then tell the truth which was probably that he couldn't bear to hear every sentence uttered with a high rising pitch intonation leaving him scratching his head trying to answer a question he couldn't find.
Not saying it's my opinion so you can put your flame-throwers away :-) but I do hear this complaint very regularily.

That doesn't quite make sense because if his actions were in reaction to living in a PC world and trying not to get offside then the last thing he would have done is act in a racist way. The flip side is that we don't live in a PC world as evidenced by the widespread rise of rightwing nut jobs and conservatism.

Anyway, Australians do come in the drinking lots stakes and the actions of its government are probably as racist or more as many others but it is racist to define someone by their race/nationality.

Thank goodness we all have tongues and cheeks irrespective of race !

Perhaps he was thinking about the Australian rugby players....or didn't like being called a pom...
My she certainly used the problem to advertise herself, didn't she. Maybe he looked at her and thought:

it is a shame the name / email address of the scot racist who sent email is blocked out in original email article - obviously some scot facist who hates all non-scots and hides behind some racist umbrella - would b very interesting to see who he actually rented room too (dont tell me another scot, the only people he would accept}

Most of the Australian rugby union players are well behaved nowadays (and even in the past) and (generally) pom is only applied to the English.

Considering the sectarian nature of Scotland (I had to wait once while an Orange Order march got between me and the pub; the filth!) itself it could be he's Orange order and decided on odds she's Catholic.

But having said that, are we even sure he's Scottish? Of course he could have just seen her photos and decided anyone that high maintenance at that age was likely to burn the house down by leaving her GHD straightners on.

Although appalling discrimination does take place in Australian . Some Backpacker hostels in Australia actually won't allow or will discourage Australians from staying in them . That is outrageous.
