Sure drink several boozy drinks with have some food & magically the alcohol goes away...
Yeah I know - it's just I've just been more than a bit appealed by what people seem to find acceptable recently. I mean if I drive I just don't drink, pure & simple - I just don't get how people think that having a few wines or cocktails (yes V&C, G&T and other single shots drinks count) then drive. Legally under the limit doesn't equal suitable to drive...
Anyway enough ranting - I'm looking forward to meeting up again guys!
Ria, remember at our last PU, I had only the one drink? Cos I was driving? But not this time. This time I'm gonna enjoy myself - I'll get The Boy to pick me up.
'Fraid the only ones I know are Irish Drinking Songs Not quite as eloquent as Omar but well-aimed non-the-less.
The Sydney PUs are mostly amongst the Women Travellers mob. In the old days there were a lot of Sydney PUs - when most people hung out on Your Choice. Things factionalised fairly rapidly.

I've been driving for 38 years, 7 of them professionally and have covered maybe 1.5 - 2 million kilometres. I've always used the policy I espoused above, ie moderation, eating while drinking and staying under the legal limit. (.08, .05 or .00 whichever was applicable). I've had people run up my arse maybe 4 times in that period and have had NO other accidents. Maybe I've just been lucky.
I do agree though, that "legally under the limit doesn't equal suitable to drive". I know people who couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dog's arse when they're stone cold sober. Teetotallers who have multiple"accidents" every year.
Using your zero tolerance policy, how many accidents have you had Ria?
I used to belong to a group and we'd meet once a month on a Thursday night and go out for dinner. We were known as "The Thursday Night Group" - how original - and I'd have one glass of wine and one only because I had to drive. I was under .05 plus I was legally "fit" to drive.
I think so, Ian, though not sure cos I didn't. Some firm off-line friendships were made. I think they still have the occasional pissups, and of course others meet in rl cos they're now rl friends.
The old Kangeroo (sic) Mafia was mostly Sydney and Canberra based, with a few Melbournians joining in when able. They were the nucleus of the "Oz Shift' on Your Choice - in the days before it spun off into all sorts of diverse branches.
