the yarra just upstream from the boatsheds on the eastern side of the city is nice, and they have bbq's which I think are free. Along Alexandra Ave, I think.

oops! I just tried to link google maps of Alexandra Ave and it linked my home address for some weird reason!
I will note this and see if I can attend
That would be really great if you can Zoe.
You shan't be sitting on the ground Poppy - heaven forbid!
even better Ian.
Following my two-week sojourn to the Deep North (aka the Gold Coast)
gee this place is going to be even slower with you and CC up north, I just might get some housework done!
So the bbq is at your place Zoë - that's awfully generous of you. Is there a seat for Poppy?

well actually Ian, there are beautiful spots to bbq around my place! It's tourist central!

We could always catch the 57 tram and head out to Maribyrnong. They used to have Henley on the Maribyrnong at the boat sheds opposite the Anglers in the olden days - so my mum told me!

Well if we did that JV I could walk (or stagger there) - I only live 300m away - [here|http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=EN&f=q&q=Aberfeldie,+Vic&ie=UTF8&ll=-37.752055,144.911642&spn=0.03081,0.077248&z=14&layer=c&cbll=-37.767513,144.901551&panoid=F9ahJDSBoI7CLKBm4HPLLQ&cbp=1,24.101686176668807,,0,-3.8430647123030064].

In that case Ian, you could lead the long stayers out to play an innings of cricket at Fairbairn Park or start a kayaking competition from the boatsheds near there.
My dad reckons he saw old convict manacles in the cellar of the Major who lived at the top of Hurtle st.
I grew up in W# so have lots of stories to tell.
