G'Day mates!
Ok I need a little bit of advice. I am in Brisbane at the moment and I am heading off in two weeks to do some traveling. I am wanting to head up north towards Cairns and I am wondering about places I should stop and see on the way? I have alot of time and a bit of money saved I will need to work on my travels.
So I am also wondering if anyone knows of a good fun place to pick fruit so I can get my seasonal 3 work out of the way so I can stay another year if I decide I would like to? I have heard you can have alot of fun doing it and meet alot of great backpackers while doing it so I need some suggestions of where I can go to do this.
My next question is how I should get up north should I take the bus and stop off and see some places? Should I take the train and an I able to buy a ticket where I am allowed stop overs? I guess I would like to take the cheapest route I can where I am able to experience new places at the same time.

Ok I hope to hear from you soon......

I'm also open to any tips anybody might have for doing some seasonal work. I wouldn't have picked Cairns as a prime spot though - think of the heat! From my experience of Australia so far, I'd have said Maragret River in the SW or around that region may be a good location though - plenty of work down there and well paid, from what I've heard. Anyway, I don't really know more then that, so any tips will be eagerly appreciated by me as well!

Bne > Noosa > Fraser Island > Airlie Beach > Magnetc Island > Cardwell / Hinchinbrook Island > Mission Beach > Cairns. Check Bundaberg & Bowen for fruit & vegs picking.

hi melissa,

i'm also in brisbane (living) ATM and looking to do a trip up to cairns in about two weeks (leaving around the 15th/16th). i've got a 5 seater station wagon and two seats are taken, but we're looking to cut the gas cost down. based on the car specs, it should cost no more than about $400 each way from bris-cairns (i'd have to get back to brissy by june 30). i'm looking to get hopefully 4 people and maybe even the maximum 5, so it'd be no more than $100/person each way. obviously, you could just stay up there if you wanted. let me know ASAP if this sounds good and maybe we'll be in touch.
