Just thought I'd let people know that several backpacker places in Kings Cross will be suffering from the effects of building over the next few weeks.

I live in the thick of them, and out the back of one of the main backpackers on Victoria St (The Original Backpackers Lodge) there is a small accomodation block being demolished. The small bulldozer has been starting up at 06.30 each day. (I know because the bloody thing has been waking me up every morning) I have no idea what the plans are there but they extend across the back yards of two hostels side by side.

Also, a backpacker place on Darlinghurst Rd - Funkhouse (Kings Cross main st) which is above what used to be Hungry Jacks now has major gutting going on underneath - with bulldozers and demolition even louder and messier than Victoria St. Doubt there is much peace to be found there!

The best option around the Cross would be some of the places on Orwell St (Like Eva's or The Jiolly Swagman)
