Hey
Im female aged 21 travelling alone from the Uk to Sydney on 17th April. Travelling up the East coast. Need to get to Cairns by mid May to meet up with mates and fly to New Zealand.
So got approx 3.5 weeks in Oz. What are the must sees? Wot bits should I leave out? are there any areas I should avoid due to travelling alone?
Im not into adventure sports, just relaxing, seeing some sights and spectacular scenery.
Was orginally planning to be in Oz on 1st March so applied for tourist a visa for that date, do i need to apply for a new one?
Also anyone gonna be in Sydney around the same time?
Any advice/help would be much appriciated!!!!

No, your "old" ETA will still be valid.
You have a time to use it, and a stay of 3 months, 4 times in the year, so if you wanted to, you could stay here 12 months, going o/seas at the end of each 3 months.
If you have 3.5 weeks starting mid-April you can have a good time with good (beach and water) weather. I would probably get a Greyhound buspass (either distance or time based), and look at staying from this list of highlights:

Bellingen, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast (Noosa), Hervey Bay (Fraser Island 2D tour), Agnes Water, Great Keppel Island, Airlie Beach (Whitsundays), Magnetic Island, Mission Beach, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation (both in the Cairns region). Two nights each and every place is doable, but would be rushed, so you need to choose, using a guide book and based on your interests.

All these places have one or more hostels, and all will be rated on hostelz.com - standards can vary a lot. And you will have no trouble meeting other people doing roughly the same trip, and you will be very safe with the normal precautions that apply to alcohol, late hours, and dark isolated places.
