HI,
I will be driving from Melbourne to Adelaide on the great ocean road on august 7.
I have rented a car and will be making many stops and spending the night at different locations. It would be great to find people to share the cost of the trip with.

Here is a rough itinerary:

Day 1 Melbourne to Appolo Bay around 200km about 2hrs 40min driving time.

Day 2 Appolo bay to Portland 260km 3hrs 30 min drive time.

Day 3 Portland to Adeaaide 540 km 6hrs 30 min drive time

Let me know if interested :)

Andrea

You ought to post this on the Travel Buddies Companions forum and it is Apollo Bay and Adelaide btw.

Good luck finding buddies ... but it's harder in mid-winter of course.

And can I suggest you kick on past Portland as far as you can ... certainly Mount Gambier, but even as far as Robe. Portland > Adelaide is a long way (especially if you travel via the Coorong, which is worth doing).

Worth checking out Bell's Beach (just south of Torquay / Jan Juc, and one of the world's surfing icons). On a nice sunny day with a winter swell, it can be pretty spectacular.

We can provide a lot of additional texture when you decide your overall shape.

Thank you!!! Will do.
That itinerary was given to me by a couch surfer but open to modify so it's an easier drive :)

That's a shame .. I haven't booked a car yet but have booked accommodation. I'm going the other way Adelaide to Melbourne. Going similar time to you. What company have you used to book your car?

Hi Chloe,
I went with rentalcars.com. In there I found a quote from HERTZ that does not charge the 300AUD for one way fee. I rented car Sunday 9am until Tuesday 7pm for $133 (USD) it is an economic 2/4 door automatic car (Yaris or similar). I believe rentalcars.com is the same as Priceline since they were the ones that charged my credit card. This was the best deal I found.
Trying to do couch surfing on my way so I save on accommodation and have for gas!
Good luck!
