Hi we are a couple travelling with a 7 year old child. We are going to Great Barrier Reef around 2nd week of Nov. I'd like to know if a one day tour to the islands/beach is good enough? I saw some tour with 2D1N or 3D2N etc. Is it worthwhile to join? Which island/beach would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Great Barrier Reef does not constitute islands or beaches, in general. It is open-water boat travel.

Where will you be based ... Cairns, the Whitsundays, or somewhere else?

We can provide a lot of additional texture when you decide your overall shape.

I went on a snorkelling trip out of Townsville. It was an all day tour which cost myself and husband approx $200 each. Lunch morning tea and afternoon tea were provided. Also all snorkelling gear and stinger suits. The company was great with kids and the age range was from about 6 to 86. I would highly recommend them. It was adrenalin snorkel and dive. The trip by boat was approx 2 hrs each way. The reef was 68 kilometres off shore

I recommend to go to Gladstone and go to Heron Island. They have a resort and a travel company in Gladstone does good deals if you stay for a minimum of 2 nights.
