March/April is generally not a peak tourist season for Tasmania | Melbourne | Perth, but having said that, it is also a great tine to visit all three destinations; with luck the heat intensity of summer will have mostly passed on the mainland, while Tasmania won't be cool yet.

The only thing to watch out for is Easter, and the ten days of school holidays after it, since this is usually a busy holiday period. Easter 2016 starts on Friday 26 March, and I would be booking vehicles and any accomm now, for this period.

Thanks so much for all hat info.
Does anyone have any ideas for an itinerary for a 2 weeks visit to Tassie?
We plan to rent a campervan (any suggestions of good companies).
Also travel around the island doing some hiking.
Any suggestions for good day hikes as well as "must sees" in Tassie?
How many days should we spend in Hobart if a bit short of time?
Appreciate your views.
Cheers

How will you get to Tasmania: vehicular ferry to Launceston (Devonport), or by air?

We fly in to Melbourne from Canada and plan to fly to Hobart.

With two weeks, I would plan a counter-clockwise loop Hobart to Hobart: Hobart (3 nights max) > Port Arthur > Coles Bay (Freycinet NP) > Tamar Valley > Cradle Mountain NP > Strahan (Macquarie Harbour) > Mt Field NP > return to Hobart.

You can check carhire3000.com or economycarrentals.com for campervan hire and prepayment.
