We will be traveling with our own SUV through Australia from late July to early Dec. 2016. In late Oct. we will be driving the Eyre Highway through the Nullarbor Plain. Our current plan is to leave Port Lincoln and drive to Ceduna. Then Ceduna to Nullarbor. Next Nullarbor to Balladonia. Then Balladonia to Esperance. Spend the next day exploring Esperance -- birding the wetlands & driving the Great Ocean Drive with stops for exploring. Then Esperance to Albany for three nights & two full days.
Is Ceduna worth a stop or should we push on to Nullarbor? Looking for people who have made the drive and their recommendation/suggestions on places to stop & explore, sleep, etc.

Sensible time of year to drive across the Nullabor in october.

Today the temp in Ceduna is 43 degrees!

If you have that much time (more than four months in total), I would slow it down if you can. The drive from Port Lincoln to Ceduna to the Top of the Bight is pretty special, including Coffin Bay, Streaky Bay, Smoky Bay, the majestic cliffs, and so on.

So I think you're rushing things a bit, across to Esperance, and then onto Albany. You probably already understand this, but the distances are truly vast. There's nothing "special" about Ceduna, it's just one of the pieces in the puzzle of the whole Nullarbor adventure. However Port Lincoln > Nullarbor is 800 km, and it would be totally criminal to rush it.

Definitely nothing special about nullabor either, if you mean the dot on the map, its just a road house, you'd be better off camping by the cliffs..

A couple of years ago it took us a week to drive from Port Lincoln (Coffin Bay to be accurate ) to Ceduna. There is a lot of interesting things, little bays and fishing towns etc along there.

I presume you've seen this site?

The Fitzgerald national park between esperance and Albany is definitely worth a night or two.
