Quote

There's plenty of seafood to eat but dining out is expensive in port Douglas. Not much night life.

The Combined Club has cheap club meals with a great balcony over the marina precinct, and the two pubs aren't bad for food, cold beer, ambience, and live music. There are other cafes in McCrossan Street that are not too expensive - or you can eat where Bill Clinton does.

My comment was so that the OP wouldn't expect to find night clubs typical of cities.
As an eating experience, I wouldn't recommend the combined club to my worst enemy.

Were you expecting night clubs OP? Or the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, or Three Gorges Dam, or Macchu Picchu perhaps? And there are worse places to eat than the Combined Club - no Michelin Stars, but cheap enough, and covering all the food groups most nights.
