Hohohoho

Any chance of anyone knowing much about travelling by boat from Indonesia to Australia? Don't wanna fly... and like many others before and after me would like to know how you cross that big bit of water which stands between Papua New Guinea (etc.) and Oz?

IT'S FOR THE SAKE OF THE PLANET!

Also, whilst I'm at it - and there might be an obvious answer to this one... is there a boat service or the chance to hitch a boat ride between Australia and New Zealand?

There are no regular services between Indonesia and Australia you may pick up a ride on a yatch from Benoa Harbour in Bali

There is an annual boat race from Darwin to Ambon, in Indonesia, maybe you could hitch a ride back to Darwin with a yacht. As above has said, try the yacht clubs-harbours for someone looking for crew.

Very unoriginal.

To troll well you have to either instil your OP with humour or a controversal subject.

Controversial as well.

Try Portsmouth or Calais as well.

Cork would be good too.

Don't despair at the silly answers. My great grandparents sailed from Cork, Ireland all the way to Portland, Victoria, Australia so it's definitely doable. What's more - it was free! All they had to do was a little bit of "indentured labour" (like a WHV) for some local cocky, for like about a year.

I do laugh, however, at these efforts to travel in such a fashion "for the sake of the planet": surely the obvious thing to do would be to simply stay at home.
