Hi everyone,

I am thinking of booking a package deal through beaches backpackers (http://www.beaches.com.au/information.php) for sailing/fraser island and was wondering if anyone here had any previous experiences good or bad with them. I'm really just looking for more info about the company and whether to go for the deal or stay away :-) Would anyone recommend any other package deals?

Also does anyone know when/what time they do their fraser island briefing?

And how easy is to get from prosperine to airley beach and from maryborough west to hervey bay as we are coming in on the train..

I stayed at Magnums which is next door to Beaches. It was summer when i went to Frazor and Airlie and was packed. You'll have fun at beaches. Im not sure what the beaches trip to the Whitsundays will be like. But im sure you'll have a great time! I went on the Defender which was a tall boat, like pirates of the carribean style. The crew were fantastic!

Hiya,

Sounds great! I've heard mixed reviews about Magnums... Was it ok?

When/how did you arrange your sailing trip? It's just that we're on really tight time budget so not sure whether to book ahead or not!

I've been in the YHA hostel, but I heard something good about the beaches bkpack. And travelling a lot in Australia I've to say that the Magnum is famous for bed bugs.... A lot of persons told me the same.
BTW, from Proserpine airport there's a direct bus to Airlie. It's about 20km far from the town and it need about 30minutes.

Friends of mine have recommended beaches to me - they said it was class - very well organised and they had a great time.

I'm actually travelling from proserpine train station - does anyone know how long the bus would take to airle? I imaging it's about the same though
