Australian e-Tourist Visa Expiry

The visa has been activated so you are stuck until the 12 months is up.

You can apply as many times as you want, and your card will be debited each application.
You can apply once every 12 months if you want.
This does not mean you will succeed.
So your last stay lasted 3 days, well, you have used up one stay, and the next one can be anytime now, as your one entry has been done, so another 3 to go.
That first visa you got, you should have gotten a free transit visa, which allows a stay of 72 hours, enough time to get off a flight and onto another.
So, your first eVisitors visa has started its count down.
The more entries you make, the higher the probability of you being chatted with as to how you will support yourself.
If you have a lot of money in savings/transaction account/s without working, then fine if not, then you will be asked if you do plan to work on the eVisitors, which is not allowed.
So long as there is the money to support yourself, your next entry can be 2.98 months away, depending on when your first entry was made.
The second entry can last max 3 months, then you have to go out, and come back another three times.

It is not so complicated MadeleineLaura, as you may now feel from other information provided.
. If you do not make it back before the 12 months, you just need to apply for a new visa, not a renewal and in fact you may find that by applying for another visa, the granting of that will automatically see your previous visa cancelled if you decide that you want to enter Australia not long before the 12 months is up.
. So yes, the easiest way may be for you to apply for a new visa as you say.

The eVisitor (subclass 651) is free and is likely the best one for you
I am not too sure at all about the previous poster's reference to 2.98 and it is more a red herring to be ignored.

We visit Australia once or twice a year and my husband just applies for a new tourist visa each time his previous one expires - so usually two visits per visa. He's never had a problem being granted another one each time and the gap between visas isn't an issue either, wether it's six months or more or less.
