Cash- not if you lose it !!

TC- There can be a fee when you cash them, also more of a hassle than using the ATM.

I just considered the fees part of travelling. Even (most ?) credit cards charge a 3 % Foreign Transaction fee, 3 % of $300 AU is $9 AU, etc etc...
