Thatched hut on the seaCountry forums / Thailand / Thailand
Am planning to visit Thailand in late Feb/early March. I have visions of that perfect little thatched-roof hut that stands on stilts in the water - and that you can jump out of right into the ocean - maybe 20 feet from the shore. Not sure if a place like this exists in Thailand - but if anyone knows, would appreciate if you could let me know. Not really on a budget.
Maybe not on the sea, but if you want to jump out of your bungalow/hut straight into water, try staying on the Ton Toey raft station on the HUGE lake inside Khao Sok National Park. It is fantastic. | 1
You need the Maldives. | 2
Only place I've seen built over the sea ( as opposed to fresh water ) is the Muslim village near the "James Bond Island. Hardly the perfect little thatched-roof hut though. | 3
i have heard of places like this in koh lipe but have no further details, sorry. | 4
Inle Lake.. Myanmar | 5 | |
#6 Where in Thailand is this Inle lake? Which ocean is it on? | 6
Inle Lake is in Burma, and not a proper reply to your post. | 7
Oh, we went to The Maldives in November just gone. Not a patch on Phi Phi. | 8
Plenty of accommodation right by the sea, but I can't really say I've seen anything over the water. The "beach hut" variety of accommodation can easily be found in places like Koh Pha Ngan. | 9
Thanks all for the suggestions. Leigh (#8), where on Phi Phi are the beach-side bungalows? Anything similar on Phuket? | 10
The Holiday Inn Palm Beach has beachside bungalows. It's not cheap I know, but we have been many times and never tire of it. Here is a link to some photos | 11
my gf told me about these on ko kood. koh kood | 12
this was the bang bao one bang bao . i remember thinking at the time that the water didnt look too nice round them though. maybe all the waste goes straight into it. something to think about. | 13
Ban Boa on the very southern most end of Koh Chang, is indeed a village built over the water. There is accommodation a plenty to be had there, but like bangsue says, l do not recommend you try diving in right there, especially not at low tide !!! That is the only place on the sea l can think of. Apart form the houses on Khao Sok lake in the national park, there are also houseboats built right on the water in various parts of the upper river Kwai in Kanchanaburi. | 14
Use to go to Koh Kood once, they have the bungalow right into the sea. But you need to check the tide as well. If it is the right time, you can jump in very easy. | 15
