Sorry, but what's the urgency?

If you're going to the islands, just go to bus station and buy a joint ticket that will ultimately get you to the island of choice!! Only trouble is the time you'll be made to wait around in Surat Thani. We took a bus from Phuket at 10am and finally caught the 5pm ferry to Koh Samui.

Yes, it's less than 4 months until December 31st - urgent indeed.

No need to panic. Any travel agent on Phuket will sell you a ticket through to the Gulf island of your choice including bus and boat. Just pop into an agency and book it when you get there.

We booked direct at Phuket Town bus station.

Thank you all so much for the assistance... just stressing a bit i guess. but i am on a tight budget and can only bring what i need. so is it safe to say that it'll cost me ROUGHLY 400baht???

But WESTWOOD!!! I am very interested in what you said. you went from phuket to Koh samui. That is what i'm doing!!! when did you do this and how much did it cost you??? I was just going to take the bus to the port of Don Sak and see if there would be a ferry,,, but if i could buy a joit-ticket that would be awesome!!! please tell me more...

When you get there Adam you will see just how easy it all is.

As already said, ANY travel agent on Phuket (or indeed Phuket Town Bus Station) will sell you a through-ticket to the island of your choice. No need to worry about connections etc., just sit on the bus and enjoy the ride, you might have to change buses in Surat Thani, but it's all very well organised and you'll be shown exactly what to do. Really no need to worry about a thing. You will see!

FFS's link shows that the ticket through to Samui should cost you 350 baht. I don't know how recent that info is - I wouldn't be too surprised if it has gone up slightly. A joint ticket from Surat Thani airport to Ko Samui is now 350 baht, and Phuket is quite a lot further from Don Sak pier than Surat airport.

When we left Koh Samui in May, we couldnt get sleepers on the train for the date we wanted to travel in spite of trying to book 3 days before we wanted to travel. So we resorted to using Songserm for the transfers and the bus to Bangkok. They charged 200Bt for the ferry and the transfer to Surat Thani. Plus the bus was quite comfortable-- a not-so-bad trip.
