laos from Thailand during the week-end ??

Hi everybody and thank you for talking about Laos from Thailand...This is my question:
I hope one day to have one month to spend in Laos...Now I have only 10 days in C.Mai ...What's your suggestion to spend only three days in Laos ? I know there's a train traveling by night that leads you directly to Ventiane week-end market..Any information concerning trains or place to visit will be appreciated!

The only way to appreciate Laos with 3 days is to fly into somewhere like Luang Prabang and then fly out, and even then it will be minimal. Overland travel always takes too long for such a trip. Save yourself the grief and skip it until you can give more time. Laos can only really be appreciated with a longer visit of a week or more.

Or fly into Luang Prabang or Vientiane and stay there for a few days. Overland travel inside Laos is both slow and not really luxurious.
