Lanta with Kiddie and Missus

Country forums / Thailand / Thailand

Hi..Help if poss please have we chosen well??................the missus, me'self and 16 month wee babe are on Koh Lanta possibly for 2 weeks end of march....we thought Long Beach sounded like it isn't quite as 'built up' as the main beach Klong Dao, good for swimming with the baby and hopefully still a fair bit 'going on' bars, music, food...funky fish bar is it?...( neither of us are completely washed up, quiet nights in just yet!).....any reccomendations of places you've stayed ...we're looking at aircon bungalows around $30.........enough to keep us occupied for 2 weeks do y'all reacon???................, your thoughts would be very much appreciated, cheers

yeah, lots of families on Lanta--many Swedes with families. The Funky Fish area on Long Beach is friendly and easy for families with young kids, plus other kiddies to play with. There are an assortment of bungalows, some with aircon, I believe, and $30 will get you a nice one. Good swimming too. Night life is a bit rowdy, and late night music can get in the way of sleeping sometimes.

Whatever you do DONT stay at Lanta Long Beach Resort or Nakara Resort.... in 6 weeks in Thailand we had the worst experience there... have a look at my blog HERE for a full description on what went wrong. Long Beach however is a great place... make sure you eat at Thai Cat and have a few cocktails at the Sunset Bar... just find better accommodation...
