Koh samui accommodationCountry forums / Thailand / Thailand
Husband and I are heading to koh samui (bo phut or chaweng) next January with our 14 yr old daughter. Finding it hard to track down accommodation with a single bed AND double bed in one room. Everything I've found assumes we all want to tuck up snug in a king size bed... Can anyone help or advise? Edited by: alisongbate Edited by: alisongbate
You're pushing it wanting that. | 1
Yes true. Online booking doesn't tend to make it clear if the " supplement for extra person" is for a pull out bed or not. | 2
The hotel booking engines, I use hotelscombined.com, allow you to enter the number of people in a room, in your case 3. When you then look at your selections it generally tells you there is an extra bed. | 3
posts #3 and #4 thanks for the tips about search engines. I've been using agoda to reseach places and they look good but you never know... Good to hear from someone who's used them. I've used wotif.com here in Oz no problems. Emailing the hotel direct is a good tip too. | 4
The no-cancellation fee thing is genuine (I've used it to change dates) but make sure you read the fine print - different hotels have different rules. A lot seem to be no fee up to 48 hours before arrival date, but make sure you check. I've used Wotif, Agoda and Hotel and had no problem with any of them. Sometimes they'll all have the same hotel, other times, especially with smaller properties, only one will have the property listed. When comparing prices, some of the sites do include local taxes, others don't. It doesn't make price comparisons easy! Cheers, | 5
^^ There is not much point using Agoda as hotelscombined.com includes all Agoda hotels and shows final prices including all taxes, so no surprises with at check-out. | 6
I've recently spent a couple of weeks at "Penzy guesthouse" in Chaweng and we stayed in a very nice room with a big double bed and a single bed. It's all very comfortable and the owners are exceptionally friendly (American and Thai owners). It's a short 5 minute walk to the beach and about 15 minutes into the main town, but there are still some great places to eat near by. This was my second visit and I would defiantly go back | 7
