Is Thailand too dangerous?

Country forums / Thailand / Thailand

I've been saving money for a while and I'm thinking of taking a bigger holiday this coming fall and I have always wanted to see Thailand. I have many friends saying what a beautiful country with welcoming people it is, a big plus is also that I'ts a cheap country to live in and stay a longer while in.
Anyhow , latley I have seen many news on bombings and other worries going on over there and me coming from the safe Scandinavia I don't want to risk anything going away on my vacation and It shall be a time of only relaxation and I am wondering, is Thailand a too dangerous of a country to go to at this time? If I go there what places to avoid and where shall I be to be safe? Going there together with another blonde young girl, will that be any problem? Just two girls? Maybe I'ts just me being paranoid but it would be nice if someone shed some light on it for me.

Ta! xoxo

You worry too much, come and have a good time.I´m sure you will have no shortage of volunteers to look after you!Just use your head and take the same precautions you would at home.I am in South America at the moment and let me tell you Thailand is a heap safer than this place!

You are right ~ you are being paranoid. JJack makes a good point; Thailand is a favourite holiday place for Scandinavians, and you will hardly be alone. It is also very safe as long as you use common sense: don't get drunk and wander off on the beach after dark. Don't go off with strangers. In short, enjoy yourself as you would at home.
