Bangkok to Koh Samui, to Koh Tao and back to Bangkok

Country forums / Thailand / Thailand

Hello,

I'm planning a trip to Koh Samui and Koh Tao.

I would like to know:
If I buy a ticket from the government bus call center for Bangkok to Koh Samui...will it take me to the island? Or will it drop me off at the pier?

If I buy a ticket from the government bus call center for Koh Tao to Bangkok...will it cover the cost for the ferry?

Please let me know as soon as possible,

Thanks,
Karima

It should drop you off on the island. To Samui, Busses usually stay on the boat, although you are allowed to get off. Youll then drive 100 meters off the ferry to an unloading zone.....

From Koh Tao, that's debatable. Since no bus actually leaves from koh tao, best to say ticket is not included for ferry. From places like KPG and Samui, the boat ticket is included, although you quickly see they are ripping you off, charging you full boat fare despite it being one vehicle...

For Koh Tao, busses are leaving from Chumphon. So you must first get to the Chumphon terminal...plan on 100 baht for this, or when buying the ferry ticket, you will have the option of buying boat only, boat to bus terminal, boat to train terminal, boat to airport etc etc.. For you then, you'd do boat to bus...Best if you already have the bus ticket before hand!!! Super VIP busses are very nice and usually include food, which they may or may not tell you!

FYI, Lompraya has a pretty good all inclusive that you might consider...... For that, it'll be boat, bus will meet you, and direct up to bangkok dropping you at Baglamphu post office just outside kho sarn road area!

I would second the option with Lompryah - we did this route a few months ago and have a full summary here: Bangkok to koh tao . It was a pretty smooth operation and we got there fairly fast and cheaply. Worth checking out if you want everything sorted for you!

Hello... you will have a trouble free trip to and from Koh Tao....Phangan....Samui... via THE LOMPRAYAH coach/ferry company....booking office at the top of RAMBUTTRIE STREET..which is next to THE K/SAN ROAD by SUZY WALK cut through. You can choose between the night coach which starts off from BANGKOK at 8.30pm linking with their ferry at 7.00am.....or go at 6.00am linking with the 1.00pm ferry... 2hrs to TAO....then to PHANGAN ..taking another 1hr 15 mins, then on to SAMUI taking another 40mins....simples...have a great time.
