12 days Thailand trip

Dear Friends,

I plan to travel to Thailand (first time ) for 12 days on Feb . I wish to visit Bangkok, Pukhet, Krabi & kanchanaburi(mainly erawan), Please help me for the below

1 Twelve days is enough to visit these places ?
2. How to travel and how many days to stay each location ? (like first go to krabi then pukhet then bangkok or .....reverse )
3. can i do immigration in krabi or pukhet airport ?

I would say it is too much that is 3 days in each place but this would inlcude your travelling times.
You can pass immigation in Phuket or Krabi if you fly to those airports on an international flight.

Some tourists fly round trip to Thailand because it is cheaper than buying one way flights. So do the math. It might be cheaper to fly round trip to Bangkok and go from there. Return to Bangkok for a final night before flying home.

For Bangkok to Phuket you will need to fly or vice versa. The distance is too great for using a bus.

In Bangkok you can get to River Kwai - Kachanaburi area with shared tours or by yourself. Google it up.

Bangkok has 2 airports so keep that in mind when booking flights.

Maybe split your time between 2 places will work out better. Bangkok and either Phuket or Krabi. Keep it simple. Bangkok is cheaper to visit than Phuket.

One beach( not 2) Kanchanaburi, Bangkok.

if this is your first trip to Thailand, then 12 days is right for these places. Especially in Bangkok there are multiple places to see, and also just to enjoy the sights and sounds.

Travelling between places will also burn time.

Kanchanaburi can be fun to take the train from Bangkok, to the town and river Kwai bridge. Depending on where you come from, Erewan Falls may or may not impress you that much. There are economical tours from Kanchanaburi that include the falls, and along the death railway.

Quite frankly it matter not a jot if they fly first to Bangkok or Phuket indeed they can fly into one and home from the other with some airlines (Etihad/Emirates for instance)and if not with time at a premium fly into BKK with booked connection to Phuket on same ticket.

The idea that the distance is too great for using a bus from Krabi/Phuket I personally would agree with but an alternative to flying would be the overnight train from Surat Thani /Trang and bus from ratchaburi to Kanchanaburi.

Yup would stick to one beach myself

Could be - but the poster has gotta do the math and see which method benefits him the most!

Train rides can consume a lot of time too..

On buses or trains DO NOT leave money, passport or other valuables in any bag out of sight! Have bags you can lock. Keep money and passport on your person.

FLY with 12 days

Of course they need to do the maths but with time at a premium then they also need to maximise their time in Thailand and very often these fly in one place and out of another can be very good value if the airline serves both

yes train is not fast but with overnight train you save on accommodation and true in this case with getting to and from the train you might not save so much time but at least you would avoid Bangkok trafic for one part of the trip

Don't visit Bangkok more than once on such a short trip, and avoid backtracking when possible. Flying into Phuket or Krabi, and home from Bangkok would be ideal. Transferring from Phuket to Krabi by boat via Phi Phi, or vice versa is straightforward. Then you could fly to Bangkok from the other airport, or get the train, as suggested, and avoid Bangkok. Instead of Kanchanaburi, you could look at Khao Sok NP, which is en route from Krabi or Phuket to the train, plane or bus to Bangkok from Surat thani.

Thanks for the support obviously OP would need to do the research for specific dates but with a number of airlines flying to both as long as they do not look for 2 single tickets and instead use the option of a round ticket flying into one and out of the other this should be a no brainer

The only issue is that sometimes these are harder to find on the simple computer searches but a good agent can help and certainly from the UK I have been found some excellent deals (into Phnom Penh and out of Kota Bharu for example) that were far cheaper than the simple return flights to KL
