girllrig, I had a friend like that as well. Unfortunately, she is no longer with us. At least she didn't ask people for money this way. I think there's a difference between hitchhiking (which, ultimately, doesn't cost the driver extra assuming they don't go out of their way, and they might want the company) and asking strangers to fund your travels. I don't choose to do either, but I think there's a difference.

At the end of the day a freeloader is a freeloader .. Just a few weeks ago i seen a Italian guy who was just walking up to people on KSR sitting outside bars and asking for a ciggarette, now i don't have a problem with somebody sitting and having a beer bumming a smoke off me but to think oh i need a smoke, i'm not going to the 7/11 like everybody else and buying a pack, i'm just going to bum a smoke off that friendly looking traveller sitting out side that bar, i watched this guy do this every hour or so .. As i said a freeloader is a freeloader..

Once I had to freeload, but i was stuck.
Lost my money in a town with no atm, then the rest of it just covered my hotel bill. No money to get out of the town or to eat. I had just finished a tour and asked a couple on it for the equivalent of about 5 bucks. Needless to say, I saw them again on the road and paid it back, but there was no guarantee I would have seen them. Sometimes you have to be a freeloader when you are stuck....no one minds when you arestuck, but getting someone to pay for your holiday () is another
