I'll be heading back to Thailand in few weeks, can anyone tell me if it's raining down there or if I could get away with some downtime on an Andaman beach before heading home (roughly end of July/beg. Aug)?
Thanks.

Yeah, you can't predict two weeks ahead - but you can go on what usually happens that time of year.
For that area July averages 21 days with some kind of rain, August 20 - but that can be one short storm in the 24 hours, and often this is at night. Prolonged rainy periods are not real common. Plenty of posts from Phi Phi in wet season say they got plenty of beach time, had a real good visit. Crowds are low too, which aint the case high season.
Some more info in the first link below.

I was in Phi Phis this past weekend, and the weather was beautiful; No rain, blue skies, lots of sun. Of course, this doesn't mean anything for your trip, other than to say that I was a bit nervous about running into a lot of rain myself, and it worked out. Go, enjoy, and if it rains sit at a restaurant along the beach and read and eat and drink. You'll have fun anyway.
