RE# 261 -

"Has anyone bought a 30 day visa in Laos? I "

What do you mean ? , are you talking about Thai visa ? , there is no 30 day visa except for Transit Visa , but the transit visa is intended for those who don't qualify for visa exemption , Normally visa means tourist visa which is 60 days.

"that you can definitely get a 7 day visa at immigration"

What do you mean 7 day visa ? if you arrive overland you get 15 days , which is not a visa , that can be extended for a further 7 days at an immigration office , and its unlikely they will ask for onward ticket as condition of the extension.

Sorry , jumping the gun there , under the previous system the 30 day visa-free stamp could be extended for 7 days , according to those who did it they were not asked for ticket out .
However with the restricted 15 day entry if entering by land , not sure if they allow that to be extended at immigration office , however I suspect they would.

Hallo lopburi @ billp,
do you know what's going on actually with new goverment's project "30 days free visa for all nations" ?
It was enacted by goverment on January 20th.
Is it working now ?
I'm from Poland which citizens got only 15 days visa (TR-15) 1000 THB previous.
I have return ticket with backfly 20 days after my arrival and no possibility to apply for a visa in Thailand consulate in Europe.

I have not seen any such directive - what was decided on was a plan to suspend the charge for tourist visas issued by Consulates - but that seems to be in the planning stage at most locations. I have not seen any mention of a change in visa on arrival or that all nations would be allowed free 30 day entry. Below is IATA directive and believe it still applies:Visa Issuance:
- On arrival: for a max. stay of 15 days (only at Bangkok,
Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Krabi, Phuket, Samui Int'l,
Sukhothai Int'l, Surat Thani and Utapao airports):
- To obtain the visa on arrival, the passenger must be:
- holding passport valid at least six months and in good
condition, with at least two blank visa pages for visa

label and endorsements; and
- holding tickets (standby tickets not accepted) for

onward/return journey within 15 days from arrival date (if
failing to do so, entry will be refused); and
- holding at least THB 10,000.- (approx. USD 320.-) per
person or THB 20,000.- (approx. USD 640).- per family; and
- able to provide an address while in Thailand; and
- coming for touristic purposes only.

@ lopburi3

hmm, it seems problem.
Can I apply for a extension visa (more 7 days for 1900 THB) direct in Airport by arrival ?

Maybe better idea is to buy airticket to Siem Reap or Sinpapore ( both places I would like to visit) within 15 days after arrival ?
Shold I show reservation confirmation or already bought ticket confirmation at Immigration ?

I apreciate your support

You may well be required by the airline you are flying to show that ticket in order to board as you would not qualify for entry without it.

and what about extension of TR-15 visa (+7 days) in the same day /moment of arrival in the Airport ?

I do not believe you can get any extension of a 15 day VOA. You would need to exit and return for a new VOA.

Problem is that I have return ticket from BKK to Europe in 21 days after arriving.
could I get 15-days visa and fly out Thailand within these 15 days and fly back to BKK to pass my return flight?

If I would fly back to BKK airport on the same day of my return flight to Europe - should I apply for new visa ?
or could I not enter Thailand Immigration - just go throw from arrived international plane (f.e from Cambodia) to departure flight to Europe ?

I hope you unterstand what I mean.

thank you for help

Unfortunatly I've believed TTTF and The Nationmultimedia post about "free visa for all nations" goverment plan and I haven't apply for visa in Thai consulate un Europe, Now it's too late.

If you have 12 hours or less you should be able to just transit in Bangkok - check your bags through and obtain boarding card at original check-in if you are using normal airlines - but if discount types you may have to obtain the visa to clear immigration/pick up bag and check-in for next flight.
