Immigration regs will impact on tourists - originally the 30 days were an offer to the 40+ countries permitted, now without consultation it has been with drawn. Your own government should ask for an explanation.

As for entering from a neighbouring country by plane - has anyone actually DONE that yet - there was some doubt about whether you'd get 15 or 30 days.

But meanwhile , while Thailand frets about giving visa free entry , Malaysia calmly gives 90 days without visa.

Captain, they couldn't do that. Everyone knows that only criminals and sex fiends use those!
Just like everyone knows that there were no criminals in Thailand till the wicked farang brought his evil ways.

And why is that ? Thailand has every right to award certain nationalities visa excempt, and the duration of that is entirely up to the Thai authorities. It is different with mutual visa excempt (countries like russia, Laos, Vietnam, Brazil, Argentinia and a few others, but of course for them nothing has changed.

How many days will a Thai citizen get back in say Europe ? Yes, you guessed it, without a visa they won't even get there in the first place, the airlines will never carry a Thai citizen without a valid visa.

Because in the world of grown-ups, diplomacy and in th interests of good relations with friendly nations, it might be considered simply good manners to inform any nations that a long term arrangement effecting their citizens is about to change and even get some feedback on how the other nation may respond to this.

I'm well aware of the sovereign power of a nation state and the differences in immigration regulation between different countries and sjaak - you should be embarrassed even to include such a spurious argument in this thread - you will notice that no-one else has.

No there is no reason at all to be embarrassed, whinging about the fact that you would only get 15 days, free of charge at land borders is an embarrassement, especially if that simple courtesy isn't extended to the Thais in most of the countries that are affected.

Not to mention the fact, that such a limitation is pretty easy to circumvent.

As ever, sjaak, your grasp of the issues is limited and your postulations risible.

If you say so...

Good luck with complaining to your own government about the ever so ridiculous and unfair visa treatment of the Thai authorities.

Have they? Surely the short term arrangements have changed to encourage people to comply with the long standing long term arrangements?
