I love Ayutthya however I actually found this very same bar a magnet for total tosspots both Thai and Western (expats).
.
Indeed, that whole soi has gone from what used to be a one of the best kept secrets on the Thai party circuit to a total and utter shithole in a couple of years.

It made for an excellent and highly entertaining linguistic study of piss poor Thai from the Westerners and abysmal English from the Thais however...yet somehow they seemed to be able to communicate.

The best had to be the obese and rather stocious chap who tried telling Lady Fart she was 'soi mak mak'...

soi mak mak - LOL you have no idea how many times I had to read that before the penny dropped

I know that my distaste of Ayutthaya isn't going to be everyones opinion but I was saddened to see a world heritage site lit up like blackpool in October with elephants strung with fairy lights and Temple ruins illuminated in different colours. To farty it is crammed with SEA history, to others it is ooh and aah, to me it was Blackpool.

LT you have to put it on your list of things to do because my opinion of typically Thai-alised instead of styalised isn't going to be how you see it but watch for the traffic Police - I got a ticket for something I didn't do and the cheeky bastard got really shitty when I wouldn't pay him and asked for the ticket. Also you don't need to go to the Cultural Centre which is crap, and the Roti Sai Mai is crap, along with everything in soi 2, the National Museum, and the art gallery. I found the best restaurants and shops are outside the city walls but it is worth going just to see Wat Chaiwatanaram.

it is a marmite city - farty loves it, I hate it.

I've been told, to remember a new word, you should use it three times that day. Not quite sure how to work "stocious" in?

OP, as your lawyer, I advise to ask for clarification on that question. British in what sense, geographically, ethnically, philosophically, temperamentally , stociously?

Drunken abuse in Thai? How would you know unless you speak it

Sounds like a bs story

I've never been abused by a Thai in bar, only tuk tuk drivers and vendors trying to sell crap but it's usually "kii niaw" not yet mare

I thought Ayuthaya was a bit boring though.
