No,if you are from a EU continental country using Visa On Arrival.

what kind of nonsense is this. This forum has gone really downhill. All EU citizens need an onward ticket when they are getting the visa-exempt stamp on arrival and the Thais are within their rights to deny you entry into the country if you don't have one. However this will almost certainly not happen as you won't get to Bangkok in the first place, as the airline you are flying with will very likely not let you get on the plane at all. In fact they should have made it clear to you when you booked the one-way ticket that you are not allowed into Thailand using a visa-exempt stamp without an onward ticket out of Thailand.

No,""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" using Tourist Visa with One Entry.
Yes,""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" using """"""""""""""""with Two Entry.(flight tickets requested).
This is the rule on the Indian Embassy Website of my EU country and I have been visiting Thailand once or twice a year in the last decade.Never been asked to show a ticket on arrival .

Flew many time on a one way flight to Thailand without any problems then bought ticket BK/HK/TP/SL/TO/LAX or BK/SG/JK/NA/SY/AU/PT/LAX.

UK rules may be different.

Whats the Indian Embassy got to do with going to Thailand? No wonder people think the forums gone downhill..

But you know, according to someone. we're all out of date talking about airlines wanting onward tickets being necessary for a visa exemption.

what has the Indian embassy got to do with anything.

the Thais need tourists to have an onward ticket. Just like the United States, or the UK does when a Thai tourist visits there.

Foreigners entering Thailand by any means under the Tourist Visa Exemption category are required at the port of entry to have proof of onward travel (confirmed air, train, bus or boat tickets) to leave Thailand within 30 days of the arrival date (otherwise a tourist visa must be obtained).

Okay well cheers for the replies! I should have provided more info, I am an Aussie departing from Australia (flight over is with a short layover in KL). I don't think a return ticket would have saved me any money as I booked through Air Asia online, I don't think there is any saving to be made on those types of bookings whether you book one flight or two. Not really a resounding NO on whether I need to worry about Thai customs so I think I'll book a flight home to be safe and just make sure I stick to that date when I"m over there.

I don't think I've ever been asked at checkin in Australia by Air Asia staff if I have a return ticket but then usually if I'm flying into Asia with them I'm also flying home and maybe they can see the return ticket already bought so don't bother asking...

Air Asia will definitely not let you board in KL for Bangkok with no onward ticket. If you booked online, there was a pop up which informed you of this. If you had bought your ticket with cash, in an Air Asia shop in Malaysia, they would not have even accepted the money for a one way ticket if you showed no onward ticket.
