Backpackers could mean different types of people and sub groups , if you carry a pack or a rucksack you are a backpacker too. The idea that so called backpackers tend to just stay around KSR and not go anywhere else - well its your opinion but can't support you on that.

You hate the truth. Very strange.

Or the reason you don't know this is because you have never seen 90% of Bangkok yourself. That's it. You always promote a small area. You need to get out and explore more.

Ramutri road remains unchanged. I do prefer stay in Rambutri area , just a few steps from KSR road

Rambuttri not changed? Its changed a lot over the years and is stillchanging. More restaurants and hotels targeting flashpackers, a road full of portable bars and stalls. More foot traffic.

Rambuttri has changed a little, I mean there is that huge Ibis flashpacker hotel w/the StrEATs sign now. And each of the bigger massage places have gone from a handful of couches to dozens. But all of Rambuttri still has a slower feel and it has much better night food stalls on the east end than just about any place on KSR. And the Khun Daeng vietnamese noodle soup place on Phra Arthit almost seems like an extension of Rambuttri.
I like KSR and I stayed at the Palace right in the middle of it this last trip, but Rambuttri is a mellower version of the Gringo trail.
Here is hoping that Rambuttri remains the slightly more subdued sibling when it comes to the KSR and Rambuttri family!
