hello wise people of TT -
we are planning a trip to Thailand next summer with our kids (ages 7 and 4 by then) - it will be our 9th trip there but we have never been in July/August. Unfortunately we have to go then, because of school holidays. From my research, it seems like Ko Samui/Ko Phangan/Ko Tao will be our best shot weather-wise. But we have been there a few times already and would prefer somewhere new, or at least 1 or 2 new beaches or islands. We've been to Ko Lanta, Krabi, Railay, Khao Lak, Phuket (Kata and Bangtao), Ko Yao, Ko Lipe, Hua Hin (not a fan), Ko Samui, Ko Phangan and Ko Tao.
We realise that it's rainy season, but I do want to maximise our chances or reasonable weather. We'll have 3 weeks in total, of which we'll be spending 3 to 4 days in Bangkok and wouldn't want to stay in the same place the rest of the time left. That's why I think Ko Samet might not be a good idea, because it would take a lot of time to travel somwehere else from there (besides Bangkok). Does anyone have a great tip for other places, maybe somewhere a long the Gulf Coast? I'm open to any and all tips! Thanks everyone!

Thanks Westwood, I'll be sure to look into Nadan Beach!

Nadan is part of what is usually called Kanom beach. It's a stretch of beach about 9km all the way down to Nai phlao.
There are resorts spread out all along that beach but thinly. No real center with shops and restaurants, no public transport up and down the beach, so with two kids you might be a bit confined to whatever part of beach you stay.
Overall quiet and no crowds.

Hi! We have visited Koh Chang after exploring Cambodia, its more on the South East of Thailand. We loved it! Might be worth a visit. I read you will be visiting Bangkok as well, we have been there over 10 times, love that city! As we are travelling with young kids (2 & 4) I wrote a blog about the best things to do in Bangkok with kids, might be fun for you to read: 10 Tips for Bangkok with kids
