You ommitted to mention that only the LOWER bunks are wide enough to safely take a young child in.
IMO taking a young child in an upper bunk would be dangerous, if only for the difficulty getting in and out and the height.

There is no problem booking two lower berths side by side.

IMO the train would be far better than a bus with young children.

Hey, that must be a rare post where we agree on something, LOL.
Spring is in the air, don't worry it's just a flash in the pan 😉

You know there are things called buoyancy aids, life jackets, inflatable armbands, even snorkeling vests, right?

Can this get any worse ?
You do realise that putting a 4 year-old face down in the water to snorkel with any of the "buoyancy aids, life jackets, inflatable armbands, even snorkeling vests" will keep their face firmly in the water, even when they can't breathe, right ?

Why not give it a try in shallow water right at the beach? Put on the mask, life jacket or whatever and give it a go. Either the kid likes it or worst it will swallow some salt water and cry for a while.
No need to get a kayak in the second case, obviously.

Was canyoning up north a few weeks ago with friends and their kids, about 6 the youngest.
Thought we would end up with some crying kids sooner or later, but was proven wrong.
But we did joke that our trip that day wasn't really 'responsible parenting' in most peoples mind...

In my opinion OP will find out quickly. If the kid doesn't like it simply stop and don't try to force anything.

You're absolutely right. Obviously I would do this. Seems absolutely obvious to me. Like I said, I was just expressing an idea. Unfortunately sometimes on the Internet you find people who seem to be on the outlook for opportunities to .... look, I'll just stop here, I simply can't be bothered anymore.

Many thanks for the great ideas for excursions from Bangkok, will definitely do one or the other. We're all looking forward to our trip. Thank you :)

It would have been irresponsible of me not to comment on your ridiculous and potentially life-threatening ideas. The normal response would have been gratitude and relief but instead you choose anger and denial -that says alot about you. I wish your child good luck.

Don't forget the box jellyfish. Take plenty of vinegar as you can't expect any help from the locals if your kids are unlucky enough to get stung.
