Hi All,

I was considering to visit Sri Lanka this December but might need to reconsider it for Thailand with few of my friends.

I'm only considering Phuket & area around Krabi Island. I will be arriving Bangkok on 21st Dec and would like to catch a train or bus then a jetty to phuket.

Could you please suggest me a detail itinerary for the same along with the best way to travel from Bangkok to Phuket(without flights). We are backpacking,preferably staying in hostels,Will 10000Bhat per person(a group of 6) be enough for 5-6 days excluding flights?

I'm also looking for travel buddy,anyone who will be in those places during that time can drop me a PM.

There isn't a big hostel culture in S.E. Asia. Most backpackers stay in cheap guesthouses with private rooms.

Varies but at Xmas, it is going to be more expensive. Plenty of hostels so have a look at the hostel booking sites

PS, why do some nationalities want others to do all the planning of itineraries for them?

@Westwood:Its not about any nationalities..............Its a forum for asking opinion about places from people who have visited them in past. the final itinerary will be prepared by person who will be visiting it.

Some nationalities are extremely reluctant to do a simple search on topics that have been well covered. Have you done any on getting to Phuket from Bangkok? Or on budget?

well I have done my research to reach phuket by Train + Bus combo(http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm#Phuket)

I want to know will 5-6 be enough if I want to go to Phuket as well as krabi an whether 10000Bhat per person(a group of 6) be enough for 5-6 days excluding flights?

Do you want to travel overland without flying from Bangkok to Phuket to Krabi to Bangkok in 5-6 days? It's possible, but most posters here would advise you not to do it.

I'm thinking of traveling during the night and reach the destinations next morning. Why do u suggest me otherwise?
Which are the places in Phuket and Krabi are must-visit during that time?

I'm not suggesting otherwise. You've asked if 5-6 days are reasonable, I was mainly trying to figure out whether that includes overland travel back to Bangkok. Have you and your friends been to Bangkok before or do you want to see sights in Bangkok also?
