Hi,

I just received an email from Star Huts with their pricing... its seems a little steeper than what I thought it would be... we are happy to pay 1900 baht for absolute beachfront but just wondering if it is worth this much??

This is what they had to say:

"Thank you for interested our bungalow, as the list below Is our room rate and available.

- with fan and shower double bed cost 650 ß

- with fan and hot shower double bed cost 900ß

- with A/C one double bed , cost 1200ß

- with A/C one big bed beach front cost 1900ß

- with A/C one big bed and one single bed cost 1500ß. "

What does anyone think of this?

Reet xx

Air con is expensive , and that 1900 baht price has been in place for quite some time now . Ask them if they still have the old 220 baht bungalows without bathrooms. Those 1900 baht chalets are large , its probably cheaper than what Baan Paan buri would charge for comparable . Starhut in the past have explained their prices as being high because of high rent they pay . If prices are too high there try Sandee Bungaow . I think its better you go there first and check it out yourself rather than book in advance .

However I think its a god idea if we all resist the temptation to have absolute beachfront , it just encourages the developers to ruin beaches , look at what Baan Paan Buri is doing . If only everybody could be just willing to stay behind the beachfront.

Fair call about the beachfront! I will probably just book one of their 900-1200 baht ones then!

I would prefer to pre-book as we want to settle somewhere for 7 nights having been on the move for a few weeks! AND its the day before a full moon party.

Whilst there have been some staggering price increases in Thailand over recent years it does still amaze me how cheaply you can still get accomodation for.

I am happy to pay the 1900 baht but I just want to make sure that it was worth the money. It is cheap but I still want to have comparative value with other resorts!

But if you were willing to stay behind the beach you can get cheaper than 900-1200 baht , and if you were willing to have bathroom ,which is not such a bad thing , cleaner and drier , I think they still have the 220 baht bungalows.
An alternative to booking is to stay at Sandee Bungalow (behind Panburi) , you will definitely get room there at any time . From there you can make your choice about where to stay . Another option is the bungalows on the hill on nth end of beach owned by Tapan resort.

Re#4 ,
Some of these prices seem cheap compared to UK or USA etc , but they are not cheap in local terms . You can get a good room in Bangkok for much less than some of these beach bungalows in popular places.

In #6 ,
I meant to say "if you were willing to NOT have bathroom" .
