Hi all (again!)...
Firstly, many thanks to all for your replies to my postings...
My wife and I (35yo) will be in Thailand for 30 nights starting 2nd March.
Based in Sukhumvit (Royal Benja Hotel), our itinerary so far is -
Bangkok 5 nights (4 days):
Chao Phraya River, Temples & China Town
Chatuchak Weekend Market
Siam Shopping
Atthuyua Temples
Chiang Mai 7 nights (6 days)
Temples, Markets, Cooking, Elephants, Chill Out, Wandering
Kanchanaburi 4 days (3 nights)
Bridge, Waterfalls, Tigers, Chill Out, Wandering
Ko Sumai 6 days (5 nights)
Swimming, Chill Out
So... with 8 nights left, I am comtemplating either more southern Thai beaches (Krabi etc) or a trip to Cambodia (Angkor Wat)?
Is it worth going overland from Ko Sumai to Krabi to experience west coast beaches/islands vs east coast beaches/islands, or would you recommend having been at Ko Sumai don't worry about the Krabi trip and head to Cambodia?
All suggestions greatly appreciated!!!
OzScott
Hi, with 8 nights left you can do both Cambodia and south Thailand......in that order.
Angkor Wat is getting busier by the year, so go now before it's too touristy.
Now, south Thailand is very different to Koh Samui. To round off your trip with something really special head for Phi Phi. VERY different to Samui.
Can offer loads of tips on all of your destinations....Just ask. Check our site.

I would tack a couple more days onto your samui holiday (maybe head to ko phangan for a few nights) and then do 4-5 days in cambodia. I disagree about making time for Phnom Penh though. While I was glad I went there it was really sad and not somewhere I would rush back.
In Chiang Mai definately do your cooking class at A Lot of Thai. It was brilliant! Maybe check out the Elephant Nature Park while there too.
In Bangkok do not miss the Suan Lum Night Bazaar... a great place for dinner and shopping.
When in Kanchanaburi do a whole day trip to Erawan Waterfalls... by yourself on the local bus rather than a tour. It is dead easy and when you get there you will not want to be stuck on a tour that rushes you along... make sure you walk to the very last tier of the waterfall.... you will feel such a sense of achievement (well we did anyway!!!)
For more ideas and info on the above.... and some photos/stories on Phnom Penh and Siem Reap (and the reason behind my PP comment) have a look at my travel blogs HERE
Feel free to drop me a line with any questions!

It is worth to include Cambodia in your itin. I will suggest max 2 nights in Phnom Penh and 3 nights in Siem Reap. This will worth if you like to explore and interest in all the culture and temples. Make sure that you do include the visit at Toul Saleng as well as have lunch at Friend (Mitt Samran) to support the students.
Cheers,

Hey ozScott,
You might want to take a look at some of the previous threads on the Tiger Temple. There's one here. There's another one here.
Ditto on EmjayReet recommendation of the Elephant Nature Park. If you really like/love elephants, riding them isn't really doing them a favor. Getting to feed them and bathe them and so on is a much more rewarding experience.
Have fun...
