Real silk.. especially real Thai silk.. is expensive.... I think you need to do some more homework....
There are shops... around china town where they sell it... but don't expect to see huge amonts of it... People just don't have that kind of money... Using it for bedlinnen.... No my friend... not real handwowen silk... unless you just won the lottery, sorry!

Agree with #3, how much are you willing to pay, how much do you need?
#2, the burning test is a test to see if it really is silk or not.

Just to add to the question about "burn test"....

If you, hopefully with the vendors permission, take a thread from the material and put it into a flame... if it's silk it will smell "organic".. like burning hair... but then wool would probably smell like hair also.. you may have to experiment beforehand to gain experience.

If it's synthetic.. it is more likely to melt rather than burn... and smell like burnt plastic...

Good place to look:

Sampeng Lane and Pahurat Textile Market

How to Get There: Take the subway to MRT Hualompong station. From there, bus number 40 passes through Pahurat and Chinatown. Several taxis and tuk-tuk's are also available for hire (35-40 baht).

I really like New Zealand Nature Company New Zealand Nature Co. Reasonable prices and a good product.
