I am coming back from a recent trip to Thailand. On this trip I met a woman who was very helpful in showing me around. We 'dated' and generally split the tab when a cost was involved. She never asked anything of me and was all around very nice. As my trip came to an end, she came down to visit me at Ko Samut from Bangkok. Long story short, she slipped something in my drink and attempted to rob me. I never let her near my possessions and got out of the situation without any loss. However, i did have to hide out from her handlers and was pretty terrified.

Just a heads up. I believe this woman was a prostitute who was working the long con. Please be weary the people you meet who are overly helpful.

This seems to be a bit of a twist on the traditional scams. You were lucky really.

From what I've read and talked about with other travelers that nothing is Thailand is for free. And never take a drink giving to you by anybody. And that is everywhere you go.

Not necessarily. In sketchy tourist areas, maybe. But, most of Thailand is a normal place just like anywhere else on earth where people act like normal people.

We've been conned by two guys who produced id cards (supposedly for Singapore Police). Seeing as we'd never seen the real thing, how where we to know they were dodgy. Thanks to the efforts of the police and our guest house, they were able to apprehend the guys within 15-20mins of the scam.

Sounds like you fell for a scam that has been reported on the internet and in newspapers for years. Guess you did not do any research before hand. You think this was a whore. Ah yea! Did you learn something ? Check Pattaya Daily News or the Phuket Wan website and looked under spiked drinks. Much more common than people think.

If it seems too good to be true, it usually is. There is no free sex in Thailand for a tourist.
