Hi all.

A number of us are heading to Ko Samui in August and a few are interested in visitng Phi Phi for a day or two...

Can anyone tell me how possible this is, the best route, cost etc. Is it a possible day trip, or do we need to stay a night or two

Thanks in advance

Brydie

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear...

It will take you most of a day to get from Samui to Phi Phi since they are in different oceans. The fastest route would be to fly to Phuket and get a ferry from there, but depending on your flight times you may need an overnight in Phuket before heading to Phi Phi. If Samui is your main port, maybe consider heading to Koh Tao for a couple of nights, just a speedboat ride away...

Sigh.. What would be the point? Sure fly to one more overhyped, overtouristed island in an entirely different region..! Do yourself a favor and pick either coast, then grab boats. E.G on the Samui side then visit Pha Ngan or Ko Tao. Or pick the other side where there's a gazillion islands to hop to.

Forget Samui.......just get yourselves to Phi Phi. Ignore this advice at your peril....you have been warned!!!!!!

In August, Phi Phi will be in the middle of the Southwest Monsoon and likely grey and rainy while Samui should be beautiful, sunny, and dry.

As Tezza will tell you, sometimes it can be dry on the Andaman Coast even during the Southwest Monsoon, but the odds are very against you in August.

Phi Phi is fabulously beautiful; come back and visit in February or so when it will be beautiful, sunny, and dry.
