Not much to add to either Man in Seat61 or Thailand Railways train timetables.

Yeah well if you look at my OP you will see that I posted asking about bike rentals. The train times was an extra question that someone replying to my bike question might happen to know.

But point taken - clearly this isn't a good website to ask questions on. It passed its best-before date long ago, and I should quit beating a dead horse...

generally I agree that man at seat 61 is an excellent source of information about trains in any country. However for jjack the state railway timetable is better as it includes all the local services as well as the long distance trains and many of the crack of dawn trains are the locals

Agreed. I use seat61.com in other countries but haven't checked for Thailand. And for a third-class seat on 1.5 hour trip from BKK I really don't think it's necessary to consult. I was just curious if trains head there really early in the morning (which apparently they do).
