Can someone tell me where I can rent bikes in Ayutthaya? We would be arriving by train.

And do you know if they rent kid's bikes? Or do the adult bikes have an extra seat on the back where an extra person can sit?

One more question - anyone know what time (approximately) the earliest train leaves BKK for Ayutthaya? We will be there at the end of March, and I'd like to get there before it gets too hot.

For train timetable, there is a link on Man in Seat61 for Thailand Railways where you can find the timetable. Says first train is 4.20am. You can find the train that suits you best.Mr

I am surprised that someone as familiar with SEA would not go straight to the Thai state railways timetable for times

I assume there is a good reason why you want to get up at the crack of dawn rather than stay the night in Ayutthaya however if you really did mean the first train (or even trains) then I wonder if indeed any bicycle hire places would be open

Bike rental is everywhere. Nearest would be across from the train station, there are bike rentals down the lane that takes you to the ferry.

Not at 6am I guess. So maybe not the first train....

Anyway,as above there are several places renting bikes (though don't know about bikes for children). On that laneway mentioned above, just on the other side of the ferry crossing (on the island)and others on the main streets of the island ,leading towards the main site (the Historical Park).

There are plenty of other websites that I can go to for all my information (and I do). However I still hold out lingering hope that I might get some bonus advice here that I might not get elsewhere. Or I might be able to post a follow up question to someone who responded here. You know, the way this site used to be once-upon-a-time...
